Ann and Marc Davis started their tree farming journey dreaming at their kitchen table in Chicago. Twenty years later and a lot of labor and love they are honored with the 2022 Outstanding Tree Farmers of the Year awarded by the New Hampshire Tree Farm Program. The 470 acre property, named Woods Without Gile, straddles Wilmot and Springfield and shares a boundary with the John F. Gile State Forest (Woods Without Gile, get it?). Designated as a conservation easement, the Davises have improved timber health, diversified wildlife habitat, protected water quality, and created low-impact recreation access.
The Davis’s shared their timberland owner story at a community program hosted by the WCA on April 27, 2022. Check out the program Powerpoint slide show below. Click on the arrow in the top right corner of the presentation to enlarge it.
