Wilmot Community Association Bringing Neighbors Together For 60 Years!

BFB_2016_1st_Man_01Registration is open for the region’s favorite 5K! The WCA’s Black Fly Blitz steps off at 9 a.m. on Memorial Day, Monday, May 29. Participants who register by May 1 will receive a free T-shirt.

Participants can register online, by mail or on site the day of the race. Online and mail-in registration closes at noon Friday, May 26! Day-of-the-race registration begins at 7:30 a.m. under the tent on the town green at the intersection of Kearsarge Valley and Village roads in Wilmot.

Until May 26, race registration is: 

Children – 8 and youngerfree
Youths – 9 to 17$15
Adults – 18 and older$20

On race day, registration for participants 9 years and older will increase by $5.

BFB_2014_KRHS_volunteers_07“For the sixth consecutive year, coaches and members of the Kearsarge Regional High School track and cross-country teams will be assisting the WCA on race day,” said Ann Davis, a member of the WCA Board of Directors. Ann and her husband, Marc, are co-directors of the race. To acknowledge the KRHS volunteers’ time, the WCA will donate a portion of the race proceeds to the teams.

The 3.1-mile, 5K scenic course is a clockwise loop that starts on Village Road and continues on Shindagan Road, to Cross Hill Road, to Campground Road and then to Village Road.It is a relatively flat race over slightly undulating terrain.

Water will be available at the race mid-point. Runners and walkers will receive free beverages and snacks after the race.

Awards will be presented at 10:15 a.m. at the Wilmot Bandstand on the town green. The Cloud Duo will play classic rock and country music. Activities for children will include temporary tattoos and an assortment of games.

Now in its 13th year, the Black Fly Blitz 5K is the WCA’s largest fundraiser. Many thanks to our generous sponsors and to everyone who comes out to walk or run. Money raised at the Black Fly Blitz helps the WCA provide free and low cost entertainment, recreation and educational activities for families, adults and seniors.
