Black Fly Blitz 2024!

Thanks to the work of more than 20 volunteers, the Wilmot Community Association’s (WCA) 16 th Black Fly Blitz on Memorial Day – Monday, May 27 – was a resounding success.

Despite an overcast morning accompanied by drizzle nearly 100 participants completed the 5K run/walk. Proceeds from the Black Fly Blitz support the WCA, which owns and operates the WCA’s Red
Barn, a community center, and Timmy Patten Park, a beach and playground.

Duncan Domey, Wilmot police chief, ensured all were safe and sound throughout the race. Members of the Wilmot Volunteer Fire Department’s FAST Squad including Scott Carpenter, David Herr and Tim O’Neill were on hand to assist with medical emergencies. The Wilmot
Ladies Aid Society loaned their tables. The Wilmot Highway Department provided road
barricades to ensure participants’ safety at intersections along the course.

Race day helpers included Melissa Aubertin, Jay Aubertin, Ernie Brake, Michael Boland, Max Brown, Hayden Brown, Ann Davis, Kate Doucette, Adam Glass, Lindy Heim, Kristin McCarthy, Brian McCarthy, Laima Morin and Brian Pauling.

Other volunteers included Jenny Santora, Jim Santora, Molly Santora and Caspian Caponigro.
